Default diet and exercise

Hi,
I just got my first shipment of the insulite pills and before I got them, I had started a low carb diet. I had been on low carb for about 2 months with some slips in eating, but for the most part, sticking to low carb.
I have never been diagnosed with PCOS, but my family phys. said I was insulin resistant. I have always had problems with my periods; when I did have them, it was so painful and I passed large clots. Later, as I grew older, I was lucky to have 2 periods a year and they were doozies! I am very over weight, I have facial hair, and have had it since my 20's and I am now 50 and it has gotten worse. I could never get pregnant, and NO ONE told me what was wrong! Think the only symptom I didn't have was cysts on my ovaries.

I NEED to lose weight, I NEED to get rid ov the facial hair.

I read the booklet that came with the insulit pills but it didn't give much info about what are my limits as far as how much to eat or not to eat, just that too much of even protein turns to sugar and turns my cells against me. I also need info about exercise, ie, what kind how much. I had a back injury about 3 years ago and am limited to walking right now but want to find something that I can do.

Hello,

Thanks for writing into the forum. I am excited that you are getting started on the PCOS System.

I do feel that the System will help you base don what you wrote. However, you mentioned that although you have never been diagnosed with PCOS, you have most of the symptoms. Also, not every woman has ovarian cysts and this would not rule out PCOS. If your doctor is willing, I would ask for some tests regarding the diagnosis. The insulin resistant and your symptoms certainly would be very suspicious of PCOS.

Regarding the dietary information, we recommend limiting your carbohydrates to 60-80 grams a day (total, from all sources). Also, we would like you to limit or remove refined and processed carbohydrates such as bread, pastas, baked goods, etc. Focus should be on vegetables, protein and healthy fats. We don't make recommendations regarding calories as if you remove most of these foods, calories should be lowered and fats that you eat should be lower in saturated fats and hydrogenated oils should not be in the diet at all.

The Insulite Guide does include the information you are looking for. For example, page 14 and 19 will explain serving sizes for protein and for other foods as well as how much per meal or snack. You can also use the plate guide on page 10 to help you continue to support lower carb, you already may be beyond the first few weeks, since you have been following a low carb diet already. Pages 16-17 will explain what are the best vegetables and fruits (limiting to 2 servings per day). Page 18 will give a list of foods we want you to remove from your diet. I want to be sure that you have the information so please let me know how I can help you with this.

Also, walking is great exercise and if that is all you can do, it can be of great benefit. It reduces stress on your joints and does not require a gym membership. If you are able to do more as time goes on, you can add in yoga or Pilates(class or on DVD), swimming, biking, hiking, etc. However, because of your injury, it is best to have clearance from your doctor before changing or adding in new activity. See page 30-3 for other options and how to you can start no matter if you are a beginner or have been exercising for some time. The Plan fits all levels.

If you have specific questions, this brings up more questions or there is any other way that I can be of assistance, feel free to contact me. We would also love to hear how you are doing.

Hello,

Thanks for writing into this forum! I'm sorry to hear that you have been sick lately.

Here are some really great ways to gain weight. One idea is to increase the amount of healthy fats in your diet. Snack on avocados, nuts, seeds, and nut butters and sprinkle olive oil over your salads. Also, be sure and eat protein with every meal. You can also supplement with protein shakes. Add flax seeds and nuts to your shakes as well.

I hope that you are feeling better!

I must agree, Yoga is one form of excercise. I try to use cardiac Yoga. It is more concentrated on heart and breathing exercises.
My online health for your reference.

Do Gym Excercise. I think it's the best form of getting your dream figure.
