    Question Mono and PCOS

I have had Mono twice. Are there any correlations between this and PCOS? I have always been tired, some days I felt I was born tired! My mother said when I was small that I slept all the time, and even now, at any point in the day I could sleep, its the night time when I start to get anxious and can't fall asleep. Any ideas?

Hi my 2 cents. this is just my experience , I used to fall asleep after food because of the amount of carbs in that perticluar food. It is a roller coaster ride after that. Your BS is high and becomes low because it was high,...it is a spiral.

I will give 2 advice that really put me on the right track. First thing do a low carb diet and second thing buy a glucose meter from walmart and check your blood sugar and see how you react to food. You will learn a lot about yourself with that.

    Gwen,
I don't know of websites but I am sure that if you just google you will find thousands of recipies. I went to the Library and I found a fabulous book on low carb, its from Better Homes and Gardens its "8 carbs or less" recipies, and let me just tell you they are DELICIOUS and VERY simple. Hope this helps!

    Gwen,
I don't know of much myself yet, I am just beginning to do some research on this myself. ... I did run across a cook book that caught my attention when I was doing research and found this website. I think it might be something you'd be interested in checking out... it's called "the PCOS Diet Cook Book". (Here's a link to it on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/PCOS-Diet-Cook.../dp/1425119425 )
I did some brief looking through it and it looked like it was consistent with the idea of a 'low-carb' diet.
My mom has a lot of food allergies and has also been through almost every diet on the planet, some of the latest and most successful for her were of the low carb genre. She has begun to make them a lifestyle and they have been very wonderful for her.
I'm not a big fan of 'diet' in the terms of how it used today, but there is plenty of recipes that you can find under these headings that might help?

I have had problems with fatigue my whole life pretty much. I had mono once. I figured out that my thryoid and adrenals have probably been low my whole life, or at least since puberty. and i think that those are involved if you have pcos. my low cortisol levels were also making certain foods react negatively with me and I would get really tired if I ate anything with eggs orchicken or soy or yeast well it was a really long list. I got my cortisol levels back to almost normal and the food sensitivities have gone away (yay!) you can get a saliva cortisol test to see if your adrenals are working and and ELISA blood test too if you like.
I just started taking thryoid (Armour) so I hope this will make the fatigue go away.
    good luck!
    Aimee
