Unhappy PCOS, Fertility Meds & still nothing...

    Hi,

I apologise if you have answered this a million times

I am 29, I was diagnosed with PCOS late last year as my husband & I are trying for a baby & I have NO periods. I was getting perhaps 1 or 2 a year.

I was initially given Clomid 50mg, I was on this for perhaps 3mths when my period stopped again. I was then increased to Clomid 100mg this also failed so given Primiclut (??) and increased once again to 150mg. I was advised this is the highest dosage allowed so having taking Primicult again i am now trying Gonal-F injections.

I'm getting myself in a right tizzy as what happens if this doens't work?? My husband, although great at the medical side (searching website for details etc) he's not too hot on the assisting with my sadness. I am getting to the point where i don't want to visit my pregnant friends as the envy is too much

Since starting all these medications I have weight gain, I have always been very slim but have put on about 5-7kilos. Not helping that everyone now thinks I'm pregnant! I also have terrible hair growth, like a wee hairy monkey!

What are the chances of pregnancy?

    Thanks,

    Thanks,
Hello and thanks for writing in! I am sorry to hear that you are struggling to conceive. I would be happy to address your concerns.

It is hard to say what your chances of becoming pregnant are. The fact that you have been trying and still not successful makes it difficult not only from an emotional aspect but also medical. There is often a limit to use of clomid and it seems as though your doctors have moved on to trying another option. Clomid use can result in a 30% increase in conception.

Now, using progesterone (Primolut) can help but if it did not work before the clomid, I am not sure how it will work at this time. Certainly the Gonal F is the next step when Clomid was not successful. Here is a link with some information: http://www.babycenter.com/0_fertilit...ropins_6188.bc.

Overall, I am not sure anyone can tell you what your chances are other than your fertility specialist, based on your medical history.

In addition to the treatment you are currently receiving, have you made nutrition and exercise changes? I would recommend that you look into the Insulite PCOS System and how this might help you. www.insulitelabs.com

Remember that if you are doing things to positively impact the outcome then you are doing what you can do. I know that you know this, but the additional stress of all the "what ifs" is not going to change the outcome. Be sure that you are incorporating some relaxation exercises into each day. Deep breathing, yoga... whatever helps you.

I wish I could tell you what the outcome will be but I do not know and only hope that you get all that you want. I am hoping other women will also offer advice.

Lastly, I would also recommend that you call into the PCOS weekly call that Insulite has for women with PCOS. It is a group support and information call that features customer coaches - women who
have been successful in learning how to manage their PCOS - chatting, taking questions, offering information, and support to other women with PCOS. The call is every Tuesday at 8pm EDT. Here’s the call-in number: 712-432-0111 (U.S.) Access Code: 1053033 #. I think it would be a great place for you to get some support and advice from other women that have used the Insulite PCOS System. You can just listen to see what it is about and certainly you can participate.

I hope that this helps. Please let me know how you are doing and how we can help.
    .

Thank you so much for the response. I will have a look at the links you've supplied now.

I feel a little better since my last visit to the Dr. I am going again on Monday for another ultrasound, so fingers crossed everything is progressing!!

Thanks again, have a great weekend,
