Hi there, I have been diagnosed with PCOS back in June of 2009. We first started taking Metformin and I am currently still on that med. I just finished our first round of fertility meds(Serophene) with no success. I had a follicle of 1.2cm with lots of estorgen but no LH surge to promote ovulation. My dr. thinks that the follicle was probably bigger then 1.2cm (they couldn't see it properly b/c of bowel obstruction) b/c she said my estrogen was higher it indicated to her the the follicle was probably bigger then we thought it was.
Anyways to get to the point, I had a follow up appointment with her today and she wants me to have surgery. The procedure is called ovarian drilling, and so far what I have read, I am not comfortable with this idea. I have never had surgery in my life and I don't want to start now if it could potentially make things worse. She wants to do this surgery before going ahead with injectable meds which she said is more expensive and could make me feel sick. Right now I don't see how that is any different from the way I feel right now.
Based on your knowledge with your PCOS System, will this system put back my hormone levels to normal inorder to have an LH surge to promote ovulation?
Thank you for your time and help.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Hello Tonya,

By now you should have received my email response but I wanted to be sure that you did receive it.

I also wanted to include the information on ovarian drilling that other women may also want to read.

Ovarian drilling may make it easier to become pregnant, however you should know that drilling does NOT cure PCOS. The cysts can return once drilling is complete because ovarian drilling does not address the underlying cause of PCOS, it merely removes one of the symptoms of PCOS (the ovarian cysts) temporarily. This may be an option for you if your goal is to become pregnant.

The use of medications can also help you reach your goals of conceiving and having a child. But because I do not know your specific case, I am not sure how you will be impacted by the treatments you choose.

The Insulite PCOS System helps to improve insulin sensitivity with its combination of nutrients and herbs as well as diet and exercise guidelines. The supplements are also designed to correct the hormone imbalance of PCOS. While we cannot guarantee that you will conceive on our program, we know that theoretically reducing insulin and testosterone will increase your chances of conceiving, barring any other factors contributing to the infertility.

I wish you the very best. Please let me know if I can help further.
