Dear Dr Shana,

I've been having pcos for more than 10 yrs, and I am 30 yrs now. Last year I've had my laproscopic ovarian wedging done. been married for 3 yrs and trying to conceive. after a long research I have ordered for insulite pcos treatment. I got my periods on 23rd Sep, 2010 after three days of my treatment. and it was scanty for 3 days. and its bleeding heavily till today since 26th Sep. My last menses date was April 21st 2010. Please let me know if its ok to bleed more than 10 days. I have just now stopped my insulite capsules for the past 4 days hoping that it would stop the bleeding. but it hasnt. I am also having a iron tonic as a supplement to compensate the blood loss. when can I expect a normal cycle for me to be able to ovulate. I had been on prometrium, metformin and clomid for 3 cycles. even in clomid I didnt ovulate. now am not taking any. desperately shifted ti insulite pcos for a solution. please help.

Regards
Meenakshi

Dear Meenakshi,

When women go without a period for several months, the endometrial lining can thicken, which can then cause heavy bleeding when a period does occur. With this being said, you should let your doctor know as he or she may want to do a pelvic ultrasound. Other reasons for heavy bleeding include miscarriage and uterine fibroids.

I hope this helps, Meenakshi.
