View Full Version : New Here!!
I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS. Finally a doctor listened to me! I have had many many years of infections (bv and yeast monthly)and now have to use boric acid throughout the month:mad:, acne, mood swings, ruptured cysts (that have landed me in the hospital), etc, but my menstral cycle has always been regular. I had my gallbladder out 1 year ago and that seemed to make everything worse. I have put on 20lbs in a short amount of time, despite ALL my efforts of diet and exercise cannot loose the weight, actually it just keeps coming. I actaully have a few of questions regarding the system. (I have recently purchased, just waiting for the arrival!)
1. I take supplements (bile salts, digestive aids) with every meal, is this ok to continue while taking the other supplements?
2. My periods are normal, will this system change them? Kinda nervous because they are every 28 days and a piece of cake. It is the other 3 weeks that are terrible.
3. Have you ever heard of PCOS getting worse once the gallbladder was removed?
Thank you in advance...I am very hopeful in getting to feel normal again!

Dear MJF,
Thank you for posting to the Insulite PCOS forum. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. However, I am glad that you have been able to get some answers and that the doctor you are working with is hearing what you have to say.
I am excited for you to begin and happy to answer any questions you have.
First, you can continue to use the the bile salts and digestive aids with the supplements of the PCOS System.
Next, since you are having regular periods, I would not expect this to change. However, I have had a few women report a delay or a change with use of the supplements. But it did get back on track. The System is designed to address the hormone imbalance and this can affect the cycle. If this does happen, let us know and we can work with you.
Lastly, I have not had others report that their PCOS has gotten worse with the removal of their gallbladder. But that is not to say that this is not the effect for you. There are changes in your ability to digest and sometimes absorb nutrients. The bile salts, enzymes can help with this of course. Since weight has increased, it is not unexpected that other symptoms may worsen.
I will be looking forward to hearing how you are doing. When you get your order, there should be a card with the link to the Insulite Guide that you can download.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns.
I have now been on the system for 3 weeks. I must say, I am not feeling any different. I do know that my acne is terrible and it seems I am still very bloated and have some weight gain. I am holding out that maybe I am in detox, just wish I would have more exciting results.

Dear MJF,
I am glad that you have started the PCOS System. I am glad that you wrote in!
I know that you are anxious to see changes but it is still early on in the process.
The bloating that you are experiencing is likely due to the GlucX (fiber) supplement. This is high in fiber and often we are not used to having so much in the diet. Be sure that you are drinking 2-3 liters of water a day and having regular bowel movements. If you are not, you can cut back by half on the GlucX and as your body adjusts, you can start to increase back up.
The acne, is it worse since starting? Or is it still about the same? Again, this can take time as it is often due to higher testosterone levels. However, some women also see the acne flare up and this tends to be a detoxification reaction, which is a response to the supplements.
Don't give up. This is a process. How are you doing with the diet and exercise aspects of the System? Have you been consistently lowering carbs, getting closer to 60-80 grams a day?
Please let me know how I can help and how you are doing. Check in with me soon, so that we can be sure you are on the right track.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for your reply....I actually think my stomach issues is from the PCOS supplement. Taking it 1/2 hr before breakfast seems not to agree with me. So I actually take them with or just after breakfast. Is there a better time to take them? I can handle them in the afternoon, but I think it is due to that I have had food thru out the day. I have IBS also, so my digestive system is so touchy; the fiber supplement seems to be fine with me.
As far as my acne it is worse since I have started the system. It is quite overwhelming being middle aged and wanting to hide my face!
As far as my diet and exercise, I haven't changed that since I started the system. Due to the fact that I excercise daily 45-60 mins, moderate to intense and a mix of cardio, pilates, strength. I have been on a low carb diet for some time now. I don't consume even 30 carbs a day. I eat low fat, low carb, low calories. Fruits, veggies, low fat cheese, weight control oatmeal and very little lean meat is what my diet consists of.
I am not giving up, heck if I was to do that, I would have done that long before with my diet and exercise not making a difference in my weight! I will stick with it in hopes that I will notice a turn around.

Hello MJF,
Thanks for sending more information.
If you need to take the PCOS+ at a different time you can, especially if it helps your stomach. Ideally, we would like it to be away from food by about an hour or a half hour before you eat.
The acne is most likely a detoxification reaction, so it should lessen as you progress. Be sure that you are drinking 2-3 liters of water a day and having regular bowel movements. In addition, as I mentioned the more hormones are in balance, we would expect to see less acne.
It sounds like you are right on with exercise and making some good dietary changes. However, we recommend a total of 60-80 grams a day of carbs from all sources, and not net carbs. The reason that I mention this again is that fruit, even 1 serving and depending on the fruit can be about 30 grams. Also the weight control oatmeal will be high in carbs, at 29 grams per serving. Now, you can still have these foods but be aware of the total of carbs that the foods provide and what the other foods during the day will add. However, even if you are eating oatmeal one day and using the fruit the next you should still be within the 60-80. If you are not sure, you can use www.fitday.com or another similar site to check.
I will be looking forward to hearing how you are doing and how I can help.
