Hello,
First let me apologize for not responding sooner. There was a lot of spam coming in and I missed your post. I am sorry.
I know that the symptoms that come along with PCOS, such as weight gain can be very difficult to manage. However, you should not be ashamed or embarrassed. This is not your fault.
Often the programs you have tried will work for the majority of people, but keep in mind with PCOS you have to be more careful with the carbs that you eat. Sure we do not want you to have high calorie diets or not be aware of types of fats but women with PCOS will most often need to limit their intake of carbs. All carbs. We prefer that you get your carbohydrates from vegetables and some fruit and eliminating processed foods (breads, pasta, baked goods, etc). You can have some whole grains but again limited in use as grains and other processed foods increase glucose and insulin levels.
If you are not exercising, you can start even with walking (barring any contraindications). This helps with glucose disposal and helps to build muscle mass, which increases your metabolism.
The cause of PCOS is most often insulin resistance. Insulin resistance vastly reduces the insulin sensitivity of cells, which impairs the processing of glucose through the cell wall for conversion to energy. As a result, glucose remains in the blood stream, causing elevated levels of blood sugar, some of which is sent to the liver. Once there, the sugar may be converted into fat and stored via the blood stream throughout the body. This process can lead to weight gain and obesity, key factors in creating PCOS.
I would recommend that you check out the Insulite PCOS System (http://pcos.insulitelabs.com/). We have helped many women with PCOS. It is not a quick fix System. As you know, there are no quick fixes to this condition.
You are not alone out there and the women in the PCOS community are very supportive. I hope that you know that you can impact your life and have positive changes. Please let us know how we can help.
