I was diagnosed with pcos at the age of 23, but I had had problems with facial hair from the age of 14. I also have large stomach, hair on the stomach, around the nipples, and heavy coverage on the inner thigh area as well as on the face. I never really had periods without being on the pill until I was lucky enough to conceive, since I had my 2 children I have had a more regular cycle although I have not managed to conceive again.
I have browsed you site and find that you seem to be saying that insulin resistance is the cause of pcos which is responsible for the weight gain. But in my case I had all the pcos symptoms before I had significant weight gain. At the age of 14 I was the normal weight for my height. During my twenties I gained and lost weight and have continued to do so ever since. I am now in my 40s and have struggled over the past year to shift any weight. In fact over the past 2 months I have gained around 1lb a week without changing my eating habits in any way, so whereas I was maintaining my weight with my current diet I am now gaining.
My question is this: given that I had all the pcos symptoms and it was confirmed before I had weight issues would the insulite system work for me and does my weight gain now indicate insulin resistance?
I did ask this question in your consultation section of your website but up to now have had no response.
Thank you for your time.
