Hi Dr. Apryl, I am curious about DCI and why it isn't included in the Insulite System for PCOS. Can you tell me more about it and why Insulite has chosen not to include this ingredient in the PCOS system?
Thanks!

Thanks for writing in with your question!
I do recognize that DCI has shown itself to help with insulin resistance in PCOS. There are many substances that help with insulin resistance and hormone imbalances though, and our formulations have helped many many people without having to add the DCI. It's a big decision process when building formulas, what to add...what to not add...
Also, as Dr Heather pointed out to me, the therapeutic doses quoted in many of the studies would be hard to replicate without adding more pills, and thus increasing the cost of the program.
Since DCI is quite effective, I'll make sure to flag it as something to "watch" among my colleagues.
Feel free to write again.

Is taking D-Chiro-Inositol in addition to the insulite system OK? I was thinking about taking it as well, would there be any benefit or even harm done if I do so?

I think a good approach would be to see how you do without the DCI initially- for perhaps a month or two. Then, if you start using the DCI you'll be able to recognize if it makes a difference for you. There would be no bad effects of using an Insulite System and DCI, it would just add a few more capsules onto your daily intake.
Also, we'd love to know how you fair with the DCI if you take it. Just write in and let us know.

Thank you! I will not start it at this time, I'll wait and see.
