ok..so.... i was diagnosed with endometriosis about 6-7yrs ago. i have had 3 laproscopies which the gyno removed all signs endometriosis. still had pain quiet some time after the surgery and was then diagnosed with pcos. i was told i was unable to have children but now have a beautiful daughter who is 2 1/2yo. for the past few months the pains i originally had have gotten worse and was starting to bleed a little bit after sex.
i went to my GP who did and internal examination and my cervix was found to be red and inflamed. i also went for a pelvic ultrasound and they found multiple fibroids on my ovaries. lately i have been feeling so tired and my muscles just do not want to work...one day i had to keep putting different dvd's on for my daughter because i seriously had no energy what so ever to play with her.

what is the treatment for fibroids??? if there is one. everyone keeps telling me that i will have to have a hysterectomy...which is scaring the living daylights out of me!!!

i would love to hear from anyone who has the same or similar problems and what helps you.

i am seeing a gyno at the end of January...it's going to be the longest wait ever

Dear Sarah,

Thanks so much for your question. I'm so sorry to hear about your struggles with endometriosis. Fibroids as well as endo are often thought to be caused by a hormone imbalance within the body. There are many herbs, nutrients and lifestyle changes that can help promote a healthy hormone balance. I recommend that you find a Naturopathic physician or a licensed acupuncturist who can cater a plan specific to your needs.

If you would be interested in working with a Naturopathic Doctor, a physician who specializes in alternative medicine, go to http://www.naturopathic.org and do the "Find an ND" advanced search located at the top of the opening page. You would want to look for an ND with some expertise in women's medicine.

The benefit of working with an ND is that they work holistically, treating the whole person, and address nutritional needs. This is important in conditions like endometriosis and fibroids, which can both respond well to lifestyle changes.

I hope to hear from you soon!
