Hi,
I began insulite about 3 days ago. I am having this headache. Is this one of the side effects will it go away after some time?
I have been feeling a little bloated too. Should I reduce the dosage of something for a while?

Hello chandbaby1,

I appolgize for the late post. I must have missed it. Headaches can be caused by a detoxification reaction. For many customers this may be due to the milk thistle in the GLUCX. Milk thistle helps the liver's detoxification process. Are you drinking enough water?

Also, the headaches might be a reaction to the carb withdrawal. Were you having any other symptoms of low blood sugar, such as dizziness, feeling faint, irritability, trembling?

I'd love to hear how you are doing now.

i did eventually call up someone from insulite and began on half the dosage of everything. i can tolerate half now without any problem.

On a totally different note...since I had been journaling how i feel throught. I saw a pattern that I was feeling my worst right when I was ovulating. I felt my best when my period started.

i plotted my energy levels against that of estrogen and progesterone normal for people and found that my energy level was inversely proportional to the levels of estrogen.

I am clearly estrogen dominant. i added some fish oil and DIM along with the insulite supplements. My skin has started to clear completely.

It is my belief that although insuline resistence might be the one of thecause of my problems, the main problem has always been estrogen excess.
Since following less than 20g of carbs a days for 3 months gave me no weight loss. also it is in line with what triggered the whole Adrenal/ chronic fatigue conundrum for me, Leaving Birth control pills.

I could never pinpoint to the birth control pills because all the symptoms started about 3 months later.

applying progesterone cream this last month made me so energetic and nice...I also lost 10 pounds with absolutely no change in diet or lifestyle.

i dont think I have adrenal fatigue since I should have been fatigued irrespective of which day of the cycle i am in. the very reason I have the worst fatigue when I am ovulating and have a high body temperature tells me a whole lot about the cause estrogen dominance.

giving someone with PCOS birth control pill is like throwing gasoline at fire... while initially i lost weight on birth control since the progestin was welcome since most people with PCOS have progesterone deficiency.....but there is a point at which the estrogen in the pill starts to act and starts builing up in the body....at which time i gained weight without doing anything. I stopped the BCP at which time my body was more estrogen dominant than when i started and more progesterone deficient than when i started. the result 2 years of hell I have been through.

I am still figuring out but I think i am on the right track. insulite should help with my problems as well since there wouldnt be estrogen dominance problem in the first place if it werent for insuline resistence but progesterone is doing it for me for now.

Hello Chandbaby1,

It's good to hear you are doing better and making progress determining why you feel this way. Estrogen dominance is becoming more and more common. We do hear from other women with PCOS that also have estrogen dominance. For example some have uterine fibroids or endometriosis and PCOS. Estrogen dominance can be due to excess estrogen or not enough progesterone to balance the estrogen present. Low progesterone does often occur with PCOS, requiring some women to use bio-identical progesterone. Vitex, which is in our PCOS+ product, can help balance estrogen and progesterone levels. Flax seeds as well.

It can be hard to figure out if adrenal fatigue is the cause of another condition or results from another condition, the chicken and egg thing. I do know that I often see both adrenal fatigue and another hormonal imbalance occurring at the same time. Hormone balance is such a complicated process.

Have you ever considered doing some hormonal testing? Running a female hormone panel and adrenal profile may be really helpful for you. I prefer salivary hormone testing. Perhaps seeing a naturopathic doctor in your area could help. I think the fish oil is a great addition.

I have had a harmone panel done. I have excess estrogen, testosterones, dhea.

normal progesterone and low cortisol in the morning and afternoon.

But i think esterogen dominance is the major cause.

Hello kuldiprani,

I think that the headaches and fatigue can occur for a variety of reasons. The first that I think is most plausible for many customers is that the milk thistle in the GlucX could be causing a detoxification reaction. Are you drinking enough water?

We suggest to those suffering from headaches that seem to be related to taking the products to decrease all products by half for the first two weeks and to consume 3 liters of water over the course of the day. There are several reasons that the headaches could be happening.

Headaches could be due to detoxifying which is a great thing but not everyone can handle this right away. Slowing the dose will take care of this symptom, drinking plenty of water will help flush out toxins.

The supplements/new eating regimen causes toxins (such as, chemicals and pesticides that we are exposed on a daily basis from everything from food to cleaning products to putting gas in our cars) to be mobilized and excreted from our bodies. This process sometimes causes fatigue or headaches because our bodies are re-exposed to the toxins as they are prepared to be excreted in urine, sweat, and feces.

Also, the headaches might be a reaction to the carb withdrawal, as you mentioned. Are you having any other symptoms of low blood sugar, such as dizziness, feeling faint, irritability, trembling?

You could try to eat several smaller meals throughout the day, making sure to have protein and fat at each meal. If the low carbohydrate intake is causing the headaches, then eating like this should help.

Slowing the dose will also help if the headaches are caused by low blood sugar. This may happen in some people due to the decrease in carbohydrate intake, eating carbohydrates without combining them with protein or fat, or from the blood-sugar lowering properties of some of the supplements.

Headaches can also result from a change in bowel habits due to starting the program and making diet changes. Again, drinking plenty of water with a decrease in nutrients at the beginning of the program will help eliminate this problem. If your headaches continue despite both of these changes, please consult our medical advisory team.
